Essential Rigs for Carp Fishing in France

Best Carp Rigs for Fishing in France

French carp fishing can involve a variety of lakebeds, from clean gravel and firm clay to deep silt and areas of weed. Having a selection of reliable carp rigs allows you to adapt your presentation to the conditions you encounter.

At Ricks Rigz, we specialise in premium, hand-tied carp rigs designed for a wide range of fishing situations. Our rigs are made using quality components and inspected before dispatch.

1. Hair Rigs for Carp Fishing in France

The Hair Rig is one of the most established and versatile presentations in carp fishing.

By positioning the hookbait on a separate hair rather than directly on the hook, the rig allows the bait to move naturally while leaving the hook exposed.

Hair rigs are particularly useful when fishing with boilies, pellets and bottom baits over relatively clean lakebeds. They are an excellent choice for anglers fishing French lakes where larger hookbaits and substantial beds of free offerings are commonly used.

2. Ronnie and Spinner Rigs

The Ronnie Rig, also known as the Spinner Rig , is a popular choice for presenting pop-up hookbaits.

Its distinctive swivel arrangement allows the hook to rotate freely, helping create an effective hooking presentation.

Ronnie Rigs can be particularly effective when fishing over clear gravel, firm lakebeds or light silt. With a suitable boom and carefully balanced pop-up, they provide an excellent option for targeting large French carp.

In heavier weed or deep silt, always consider the complete lead arrangement and whether the rig can present safely and effectively above the lakebed.

3. Combi Rigs for French Carp

The Combi Rig combines a relatively stiff boom section with a more supple hook section.

This combination helps the rig extend away from the lead while allowing the hookbait and hook section to behave naturally.

Combi Rigs are a useful option when targeting pressured carp or fishing over clean gravel, clay and suitable silty areas.

Depending on the specific design, they can accommodate bottom baits, wafters and other balanced hookbait presentations.

4. Multi Rigs for Versatile Presentations

The Multi Rig is another useful addition to your French carp fishing tackle box.

One of its main advantages is the ability to change the hook without having to replace the entire hooklink.

Multi Rigs are particularly popular for pop-up fishing, although the exact presentation depends on the rig design and hookbait arrangement.

Their versatility makes them a practical choice when adapting to changing conditions during longer sessions abroad.

Choosing the Right Rig for French Lakes

Before selecting your rig, consider the lakebed, hookbait, fishing distance and any venue-specific rules.

A Hair Rig may be ideal for presenting a bottom bait over clean gravel, while a Ronnie Rig can provide an effective pop-up presentation. Combi Rigs and Multi Rigs offer further flexibility when targeting cautious fish.

Always ensure your tackle is suitable for the fish and venue, and use safe lead arrangements.
