The block rig is designed to be used with a block of bait. A block of bait is 4 pellets and a pop up for example on a short length of mono. This is then tied so the bait makes a block. The block can then be simply clipped on to the quick change swivel. Our version is made with extra strong components tried and tested for these apex predators. We use a range of hooks from Korda's X and XX Range, Nash Fang hooks, Catfish Pro etc. Along with the premium hooks we use a premium braid in a range of coated or uncoated and different breaking strains.

We add a dedicated catfish aligners made to fit over the eye of the extra strong hooks and thicker abrasion resistant braids

    Unique features of this rig:

    • Anti tangle
    • Available in a range of hook patterns
    • Self resetting
    • Choice of braid

    Tips for optimal usage:

This rig is ready to go for block rigs when fishing over clean ground.
If you are using a uncoated braid, a small pva mesh bag hooked on the hook will help to eliminate any possibility of tangles and will provide a nice tasty morsel of attractive free offerings.

    RICKS RIGZ BUYING GUIDE

Choosing Your Ready Made Carp Rig

Use this guide to select the most suitable hook, hooklink, bait attachment and end connection for your fishing situation.

    01

    Choose the Hook Size

Match the hook size to your hook bait, target fish and fishery rules. Larger hooks can suit bigger baits, while smaller hooks provide a more discreet presentation.

    02

    Select a Hook Pattern

Wide gape, curve shank, crank and claw-style patterns offer different turning and holding characteristics. Choose the pattern that best suits your preferred presentation.

    03

    Choose the Hooklink or Boom

Shorter hooklinks create a compact presentation, while longer hooklinks provide greater separation and may suit softer lakebeds or more cautious carp.

    04

    Select the Bait Attachment

Bait screws make hook-bait changes quick, rig rings provide a traditional attachment and micro ring swivels allow greater freedom of movement.

    05

    Barbless or Micro-Barbed

Always check the rules of the fishery before selecting your hook type. Some waters require barbless hooks, while others permit micro-barbed patterns.

    06

    Check Before Casting

Check the hook point, knots, crimps and hooklink for damage before every cast. Replace any rig that appears blunt, kinked or weakened.

Rig selection tip: Match the rig to the hook bait, lakebed and fishing conditions rather than choosing solely by appearance.
