Summer Carp Rigs
View our recommendations for some of the best Carp rigs to use during the summer. This is the time when Carp are their most active and feeding confidently as they try to put the pounds back on after spawning.
However, with the summer comes a few new issues... The weed is growing, more anglers on the lakes so the Carp are feeling more pressure.
This range of carefully selected Carp rigs will enable you to be prepared for any situation from fishing over soft silt which is abundant with natural feed, to fishing over the weed or maybe the stealthy stalking approach away from other anglers.
When fishing over soft silt, use a light lead or a helicopter-style set up and use the lightest bait you can to stop the bait from sinking in to the silt, you can also add a PVA nugget to slow the hook bait down as it falls through the water. If you are fishing over silt we recommend:
Ronnie Rigs / Spinner Rigs for use with a pop up or a wafter
The Combi Rig or a Slip D rig with a critically balanced bait/ Wafter
Fishing over weed:
Chod or stiff hinge rigs with a very buoyant pop up
Fishing on a hard bottom:
The claw - Flipper rig with a bottom bait like pellet
Slip D
Combi Rig
You can use a Solid PVA Bag over any firm, shallow weed or soft silt, just adjust the weight you use to prevent sinking in to silt or weed.
