Ready Made Carp Rigs for the seasons!
A carps behaviour and feeding patterns change with the seasons, from spring where they will be searching out vital minerals, fatty acids, and high nutritional content bait as well as feeding on natural feed getting their bodies ready for the upcoming spawning period, they will often grub around in the new growth of weed searching so its important you can present your bait right to get the best results.
In summer months the fish are more active and will need to feed more as their metabolism has increased, the carp will feed quite confidently and often getting a couple of feeding fish in your swim will increase the competition for your bait.
In the Autumn the weed is still there in an abundance and the carp will now be looking at packing on as much weight as possible to keep them healthy through the slower colder months, the leaves are falling from the trees as are the berries and fruit from over hanging bushes etc, the carp will feed amongst this and it often worth while dropping a bait in such areas, as autumn continues and the water starts to cool down, the fish will seek out the warmer water either the deeper spots or if the sun is shining on the water you can often find the fish in the shallower areas of the lake, the fish will slow down feeding as the water cools down as their metabolism slows down ready for the winter.
In the winter, the fish will still feed but they wont feed with any vigour, often they will stay in the warmer areas on the lake and will only swim about a very little amount. Times like this is when the solid bag rig will come in to its own, the ability to put a small offering of free food and your bait right in front of them. Although fishing is generally harder in the winter months it can also be the most rewarding.
