Product quick specification of:
Catfish Slip D Multi Shot On The Hook Rig
Ricks Rigz is the first to offer this rig commercially, although some anglers have been using it quietly due to its effectiveness. Like most catfish rigs, it’s a variation of carp rigs, made with bigger and stronger materials to handle aggressive predators. Catfish feed differently than carp—they engulf and swallow rather than suck in and blow out food. Adding a tungsten bead shot on the hook ensures the hook point faces downward, optimizing hooking with balanced baits. Improved hook-ups and hook holds have been reported.
This rig can be used with any manner of baits from bottom baits to popped-up squid, pop-ups, or critically balanced baits. Dedicated extra-large kickers are fitted to each rig. The hook will flip and take hold instantly. It is made with premium braid like Korda Kamo (available in 65lb and 80lb), Korda ArmaKord uncoated braid 50lb, and OMC Ammo 50lb. The rig comes with a choice of premium hooks (mainly micro-barbed, although the barb can be crushed or removed if required). It features the UK's strongest size 8 swivels (195lb breaking strain) and is available with either a micro flexi ring to attach your bait or the small quick-change if you wish to use the very popular Block Rig.
Optimal Usage
This rig is best used with either a bottom bait, wafter, or critically balanced bait over a clean lake bed. It can be used all year around.
Rig Measurements
This catfish rig is measured from the eye of the hook to the swivel/Loop.
Terminated
Terminated in either an ultra-strong size 8 swivel (fits most lead clip systems / inline leads). The loop can be used with a QC Swivel or Quick Change swivel.
Lead Arrangement
Can be used with either an inline lead or on the lead clip.
Additional details of: Catfish Multi Slip D Rig
This rig is a variation of a carp rig but upscaled to combat the power of catfish predators. Ricks Rigz is the first to offer commercially the Shot on The Hook Multi Slip D Rig. By adding a tungsten bead to the hook point, you can be sure the hook is in the optimum position to take hold inside the mouth, with the point facing downwards. This is especially important when using a critically balanced bait or the Block Rig. The rig has been used for many years in catfishing and is gaining popularity due to its versatility with all manner of baits. Our version is made with extra strong components that have been tried and tested for these apex predators. Hooks used include Korda’s X and XX Range, Nash Fang hooks, and Catfish Pro. Along with the premium hooks, we use a premium braid in a range of coated or uncoated options and different breaking strains.
Dedicated catfish aligners are added to fit over the eye of the extra-strong hooks and thicker abrasion-resistant braids.
Unique Features of This Rig
The rig is anti-tangle, available in a range of hook patterns, self-resetting, provides a choice of braid, and is suitable for either lead clips or helicopter rigs.
Tips for Optimal Usage
This rig is ready to go for bottom baits; however, if you are using a balanced bait or pop-up, you may need to counterbalance the bait by using either some rig putty or a split shot on the braid. If you are using an uncoated braid, a small PVA mesh bag hooked on the hook will help eliminate any possibility of tangles and provide a tasty morsel of attractive free offerings.
